Extracurricular Students:
Dear HHS Families,
As we move into the second quarter, I want to share some key data from last quarter, which highlights the importance of both academic performance
and participation in extracurricular activities. We have been tracking GPA, absences, tardies, and credits earned, and here’s a summary of the data:
Extracurricular Students:
- Total Students: 479 (40% of student body)
- Average GPA: 3.44
- Average Absences: 3
- Average Tardies: 4
- Average Credits (after 4th quarter):
- Sophomore: 8
- Junior: 16
- Senior: 24
Non-Extracurricular Students:
- Total Students: 709 (60% of student body)
- Average GPA: 2.77
- Average Absences: 10
- Average Tardies: 9
- Average Credits (after 4th quarter):
- Sophomore: 7
- Junior: 14
- Senior: 22
While we are proud of our students’ achievements, we have noticed a significant difference in performance between those involved in
extracurricular activities and those who are not. Participation in activities contributes to higher GPAs and better attendance.
We also see a growing concern regarding tardiness, particularly at the start of the day and after lunch. Please remind your student of the
importance of arriving on time, as it contributes to their learning and success.
Thank you for your support as we work together to prepare our students for life.
Sincerely,
