Mr. McKeehan discussed how the Math program was highlighted a news article on KSL about how Hurricane High School is curing “Math Anxiety”.
Looked at Math 10 proficiency trends for the last two years (9th grade to 10th grade). The trend is down for these two years.
Looked at Science proficiency trends. Proficiency has fallen, but not as bad as math.
Looked at Language Arts and proficiency trends are up.
Reviewed Graduation Rate for last year: 92.5%. The goal is 95%. English Language Learners (ELL) graduated at 81.82%.
Mr. McKeehan would like to focus on Math and ELL with our next Trust Lands plan.
Discussed making Science a priority part of the plan. Mr. McKeehan summarized his plan for the Science program and making an effort to give that program more “practice”, which he hopes will bring up proficiency.
