Agenda / Minutes 1/24/22
- School Accreditation – Darin
- Mr. Thomas reviewed the results from the Cognia program from the recent accreditation from HHS. Mr Thomas pointed out areas to improve as well as areas where the school exceeded expectations.
- Member Sharea Davis asked if there were any areas that HHS scored poorly and Mr Thomas informed her that no, HHS was consistently above average.
- Possible FTE in Language Arts increase in ESL
- Discussed the need based on data that English classes need to be a priority. We also discussed the need to look into using the Achieve 3000 program in a language arts class as a pilot. HHS has reached out to the WCSD about that possibility.
- Mr Thomas explained that the expansion of ESL has also moved a Language Arts teacher into ESL and to meet this demand we will need to add an English teacher.
- Mr Lebaron brought up “ripple effects” when using the money for teacher salaries and the concern that using STL monies for salaries can force a school to be dependent on STL.
- 2022-23 Budget outlook (a review of the carry over from 2021-22 as well as the 2022-23 budgeted amounts):
- Vice Principal McKeehan elaborated on the current status of our budget as well as potential carry over for next school year. HHS is anticipating a budget next year of roughly $160,000, based on currently budgeted items this year, if carried over to next year would lead to $87,000 is open funding that will be allocated.
- Elections of positions within the counsel
- We did not have a quorum in the mtg today to review positions.
